Some people have noticed my reduced contributions to the blog. Stuff be happening folks; stuff I did not ask for, but still have to deal with. As usual, when stuff happens, it seldom enhances my opinion of humans, and this is no exception. However, this too shall pass.
Meanwhile, people should go vote; I did. Vote for their favorite photo, that is, in the Digital Lightroom Lines Photography Contest.
In photography, lines are sometime useful to draw the eye to a particular point or subject.
Sometime they add contrast to the chaotic nature of organic subjects, such as trees.
Both of the above are of a bridge over the St. James river. The roadway is part of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Sometime one can use an imaginary line . . .
. . . this next one is less subtle.
That cannon is pointing at Little Round Top, in Gettysburg.
Gettysburg provides another example of lines. Lines appeal to most people desire for order, for organization, for patterns . . . for impact . . .
This next one is from Little Big Horn. Notice the transition from what appears chaotic placement to orderly lines.
There are many sad facts about human history . . . one of them is no matter where you travel, you can find graveyards filled with fallen soldiers. From ancient times, to present day, there is no recession in the business of tombstones.
Lines can also evoke wonder and moments of joy, as in this homemade kite flown by an elderly gentleman in a park in Bellingham, Washington.
And here he is, helped by his wife, bringing it down to the bin used to store and carry the line kite. That part too, was neat to watch.
So, I tell you now . . . take a moment, and go and vote for one of the line photos. The site is The Digital Lightroom.
Hope this was an interesting moment of your day. Larger versions of the above photos can be seen at the associated SmugMug gallery HERE.
Thanks for visiting.

Astute persons might have noticed these doodles, and correctly surmised they hold some significance for me, and perhaps for humanity at large.
If you click on the doodle, and nothing happens, this is the link it’s supposed to go to: http://disperser.wordpress.com/2011/12/26/palm-vx-and-i/.
Note: if you are not reading this blog post at Disperser.Wordpress.com, know that it has been copied without permission, and likely is being used by someone with nefarious intention, like attracting you to a malware-infested website. Could be they also torture small mammals.
Please, if you are considering bestowing me some recognition beyond commenting below, refrain from doing so. I will decline nominations whereby one blogger bestows an award onto another blogger, or group of bloggers. I appreciate the intent behind it, but I would much prefer a comment thanking me for turning you away from a life of crime, religion, or making you a better person in some other way. That would actually mean something to me.
Should you still nominate me, I will strongly suspect you pulled my name at random, and that you are not, in fact, a reader of my blog. If you wish to know more, please read below.
Note: to those who may click on “like”, or rate the post; if you do not personally hear from me, know that I am sincerely appreciative, and I thank you for noticing what I do.
