Preview of Future Past

The name might seem odd, but this is a post about future posts that will show past stuff.

Over the next week, or two . . . or three, I aim to catch up with the rest of last year’s photos, capping with a “Best of 2012″ post.  Meantime, I figure I would repeat what I did before; show readers some of what is coming up.

Of course, I am leaving out some stuff.  Alaska has already been previewed.  Pictures of the moon, some sunsets, and a drive to a ghost town will all have to wait until I actually post them (if I even do).

Here we go . . .

A naughty horse

This was from our trip to Third Street Apple Orchard.  He was in the next field over, begging for apples.  Given that he let me take a number of photo, and that he even goofed around for me, I gave him (her? . . . I did not check) a few apples.

There is a pond near our library, and it’s home to a bunch of geese and ducks during the winter.

It is winter here, despite the nice weather.  Flowers have died . . .

Speaking of dead flowers and dead grass . . . I took the opportunity to capture a few . . .

Also, we’ve had a few days last year where the temperatures dipped below zero (Fahrenheit, not that wimpy Celsius scale).  Moisture on the windows made for some interesting ice structures.

And there you have it.  Stuff that will eventually show up in individual posts.

Well . . . actually, the ice crystals are about it.  I only snapped a few photos before my warm personality started melting them.  What you see above, is all you get.

Thanks for stopping by, and hope the photos piqued your interest.

Oh yeah . . . for those wanting higher resolution versions of the above photos, there is a specific SmugMug gallery of all of the above HERE.

Please, if you are considering bestowing me some recognition beyond commenting below, refrain from doing so.  I will decline nominations whereby one blogger bestows an award onto another blogger, or group of bloggers.   I appreciate the intent behind it, but I would much prefer a comment thanking me for turning you away from a life of crime, religion, or making you a better person in some other way.  That would actually mean something to me.

Should you still nominate me, I will strongly suspect you pulled my name at random, and that you are not, in fact, a reader of my blog.  If you wish to know more, please read below.

Yes, I’m interested. Can I have some more, please?

  2. Beautiful photos . . . all of them. Can’t wait for more.

  3. disperser says:

Yeah, there will be more . . . but I need to do some writing; I gots me the itch, and while I do plan to get the photos out, I also need to tend to my other drives. Like I said; 1, 2, maybe 3 weeks tops.

Still have to finish Alaska, as well. And the airplane museum . . . OK, maybe 4 weeks.

Your photos are gorgeous. I do love your method of counting weeks. Every time I think I have everything scheduled, some amazing new vision ends up crossing my viewfinder and now I have dozens of new photos and hours of work ahead of me. It’s a nice curse, loving to find and capture beauty or not so beautiful things of interest, to me at least.

Thanks for the follow. I can’t wait to see what else you will share this year!! :D

  5. Really beautiful photographs.

Out of all these beautiful photos, that one is my favorite. Looking forward to more!

I had a backdrop and everything . . . but just regular overhead light (incandescent). Then I used some LED lights to add fill light to the lower parts of the subjects. I think I could have done better at positioning the light, but I’m not displeased with the results.

Great sample of good things to come! Well done, bro! But I gotta say:
    “Dried Bluebeard Shrub flower mixed light” . . . . WOW-WEE . . . what a glorious shot!
