Our Christmas Eve tea is set for an extra place.  It symbolizes all the people who, in different ways and at different times, have touched our lives, and in doing so have become part of our story.

A very Merry Christmas. and the tea looks like a wonderful tradition.

Melisa does love to set up this kind of stuff (she has few opportunities to do so).

We both liked the idea of making it a yearly event, and to celebrate people who can’t (or won’t) be with us.

  2. Carissa says:

Lovely photos, Emilio. Happy Holidays to you and Melisa!

  3. Emily Heath says:

It looks really charming, and I love the idea of the extra place set.

Thanks. I can’t take credit for it . . . somewhere in my past, I came across the notion of leaving an open space at the table for unexpected guests, and it sort-of made sense to perhaps leave a place open to remember people we know.

What a lovely way to celebrate the holiday!

What a beautiful setting, Emilio…and what a precious thought, including the extra place for those special people who have touched your lives…very nice.

  6. What a lovely tradition to start. Happy Holidays to you and Melisa.

  7. AnnMarie says:

What a lovely, welcoming and warm setting! And such a treat to see you and Melisa join the list of the many glorious subjects you photograph. Of course, I can’t omit commenting on the fact that you’ve turned the photo into a lovely watercolor! Delightful!

As you know, we are not too keen on posting photos of ourselves. A few slip by, but more and more I hesitate to foist my visage on others. I thought the watercolor was appropriate for both the setting and the occasion.

  8. It looks so very nice, and must have been a nice occation. I very much like the idea of an extra place. Wonderful. Happy Holidays Emilio and Melis!

  9. What a beautiful celebration meal! Happy Holidays, Amelia.

  10. Beautiful, beautiful setting. Melisa did such a wonderful job preparing everything, and you did a wonderful job taking lovely photos.
